Middle Pickup
Is it possible to change one pickup in a Fat Strat guitar?
I have one humbucker in the bridge and two single coils in neck and middle. I want to change the bridge to an EMG 81 Active Pickup. Is it possible to just change one pickup at a time, or is it not? And what are tone pots, and are they neccessary.
there will be an impedance mismatch between the active EMG and a passive (in your case a stock fender) Pickup.
you would need special wiring to use those pickups together
this would include some from of bufferd preamp to match the signals between the passive and active. without it you could not use them together simultaneously check the Emg website as it has all the tech info you will need
