Ceiling fan speed control stopped working?

My ceiling fan has a knob on the side that allows you to adjust the speed but it stopped working and now it is stuck on the highest setting. The knob doesn’t feel loose when I turn it.

Turn off the associated breaker and replace it with a similar one.

Or grab an electrician, it would be a whole lot less hassle for you.
